Allegation

During the course of your employment as a Paramedic with South Central

Ambulance Service between January 2016 and September 2016 you;

 

  1. On the 24 or 25 March 2016, attended patient 1 and;

 

  1. did not complete a primary survey; and/or

 

  1. did not immediately provide them with oxygen.
  2. On the 30 or 31 May 2016,
  3. attended patient 2 and;

 

  1. did not undertake a full assessment; and/or

 

  1. did not recognise it was a ‘time critical’ incident.
  2. attended patient 3 and;

 

  1. discharged the patient on scene without understanding the nature of their

condition; and/or

  1. did not request any assistance in regards to understanding the patient’s

condition.

 

  1. attended patient 4 and;
  2. Were unaware of the possible consequences of an Amitriptyline

overdose; and/or

 

  1. Were unaware of the signs and/or symptoms of Diazepam overdose.
  2. attended patient 5 and did not include sporadic incontinence within your

history taking.

 

  1. attended patient 6 and;

 

  1. did not feel for a radial pulse; and/or
  2. did not understand the patient’s ECG interpretation.

 

  1. On the 1 July 2016, attended Patient 7 and did not provide them with

oxygen.

 

  1. On the 2 or 3 July 2016,

 

  1. attended patient 8 and;
  2. did not carry out a visual inspection of their airway;
  3. did not position the patient correctly; and/or

III. did not consider prescribing pain relief.

 

  1. attended patient 9 and;
  2. did not obtain an ECG during the secondary survey;
  3. did not consider prescribing pain relief.

 

  1. attended patient 10 and;
  2. did not carry out a visual inspection of their airway;
  3. did not obtain a respiratory rate;

III. did not consider the patient had back pain; and/or

  1. did not communicate the side effects of the drug administered to the

patient.

 

  1. Attended patient 11 and;
  2. did not complete a primary survey; and/or
  3. delayed conveying the patient to hospital.

 

  1. On the 3 or 4 July 2016, attended patient 12 and did not complete a

primary survey.

 

  1. Demonstrated poor communication skills with colleagues and/or

patients, which included

  1. Communicating your decisions to patients; and/or

 

  1. Delegating tasks to other crew members.

 

  1. The matters as set out in paragraphs 1-6 constitute a lack of

competence.

 

  1. By reason of this lack of competence your fitness to practise as a

Paramedic is impaired.
