Order

The Interim Conditions of Practice Order made on 16 October 2024 is confirmed.
1. You must only be employed by one substantive employer at a time for the purposes of providing professional services as a Paramedic, which employer shall not be an employment agency.

2. You must only provide professional services as a Paramedic when directly supervised by a Band 6 or equivalent Paramedic registered with the HCPC. You must:
a. follow the advice and recommendations of any supervisor; and
b. Allow this supervisor to provide information to your senior workplace supervisor (as described at paragraph 3 below) about your practice.

3. You must agree with your employer a senior workplace supervisor registered as a Paramedic with the HCPC and:
a. in the first six weeks after commencing employment, meet with your senior workplace supervisor at least once each week to review your practice in the preceding week;
b. follow the advice and recommendations of your senior workplace supervisor;
c. allow your senior workplace supervisor to receive information from any supervising paramedic you work with;
d. allow your senior workplace supervisor to provide information to the HCPC about your practice not less than seven days before any review of this order;
e. supply details of your senior workplace supervisor to the HCPC within fourteen days of commencing employment.

4. You must work with your senior workplace supervisor to
formulate a Personal Development Plan. You must:
a. meet with your senior workplace supervisor at least once each calendar month to consider your progress towards achieving the aims set out in your Personal Development Plan;
b. follow the advice and recommendations of your senior workplace supervisor;
c. allow your senior workplace supervisor to provide information to the HCPC about your progress towards achieving the aims set out in your Personal Development Plan.

5. You must inform the HCPC within seven days if you cease to be employed as a Paramedic.
6. You must inform the HCPC within seven days if you take up any other or further professional work as a Paramedic.

7. You must inform the HCPC within seven days of becoming aware of:
a. any patient safety incident you are involved in;
b. any investigation started against you; and
c. any disciplinary proceedings taken against you.

8. You must inform the following parties that your registration is subject to these conditions:
a. any organisation or person employing or contracting with you to undertake professional work;
b. any agency you are registered with or apply to be registered with to undertake professional work (at the time of application);
c. any prospective employer for professional work (at the time of your application);
d. any organisation through which you are undertaking professional training;
e. any supervisor required by these conditions.

9. You must allow the HCPC to share, as necessary, details about your performance, compliance with, and / or progress under these conditions with:
a. any organisation or person employing or contracting with you to undertake professional work;
b. any agency you are registered with or apply to be registered with to undertake professional work (at the time of application);
c. any prospective employer for professional work (at the time of your application).
d. any organisation through which you are undertaking professional training.

Notes

This order will be reviewed by the Committee no later than 26 April 2026 or earlier if new evidence which is relevant to the Order becomes available after it was made.
