Allegation
While registered as a Paramedic,
1) On or around 20 December 2016, you inappropriately delayed making your ambulance vehicle available, whilst on duty;
2) On or around 21 December 2016 you:
a) made inappropriate comments, in that you:
i) advised Patient A “I won’t take you to hospital for the mental health team to deal with you. Mental health in this country stinks, they make you worse. They are fucking idiots, they are a waste of space, they keep you 6 – 8 hours then they tell you to fucking go. They do not care what you do next” or words to that effect;
ii) said to Patient A “What will you get out of men? They only want your fanny, they’re shit anyway.” or words to that effect;
iii) stated to Colleague A “are you fucking stupid or what? You are making up issues that are not needed now” or words to that effect.
iv) Accused Colleague A of lying in relation to Patient A’s PRF;
v) Said to Colleague A he was like your neighbours, who were black and minority ethnic, and smelled like curry, or words to that effect;
vi) Accused Colleague A of stealing possessions from patient homes.
b) recommended that Patient A should not be conveyed to hospital;
c) Did not complete a full mental health and/or capacity assessment for Patient A;
d) Did not complete a clinician-to-clinician referral for Patient A;
e) Did not provide adequate safety netting advice to Patient A;
f) Did not consult an LAS third party for assistance, such as the Clinical Hub, with reference to Patient A;
g) Did not complete the PRF to an adequate standard and/or review the PRFcompleted for Patient A prior to leaving Patient A’s home;
h) Pushed Colleague A;
3) Between November 2016 and 21 December 2017, you displayed inappropriate behaviour towards Colleague A, in that you:
a) On one or more occasions, kicked Colleague A’s leg;
b) On one or more occasions, hit Colleague A;
c) On one or more occasions, called Colleague A names such as ‘bastard’, ‘arsehole’ and ‘idiot’, or words to that effect;
d) On one or more occasions, referred to colleagues in a derogatory manner;
4) On one or more occasions in November and December 2016, you revealed details of addresses and/or details of the reason for attending patients during personal phone calls;
5) On one or more occasions in November and December 2016, you made inappropriate comments regarding patients from black and minority ethnic backgrounds;
6) On or around 12 January 2017, you delayed making your ambulance vehicle available whilst on duty, in that you:
a) did not promptly collect and/ transport Colleague B from New Addington to Croydon station;
b) Did not report your arrival at Croydon Ambulance Station to the Emergency Operations Centre.
c) Attempted to finish your shift early.
7) You posted inappropriate comments on the social media website, Facebook in that:
a) On 20 December 2016, you posted ‘Night shift begins with a twat that stops eating before Christmas’ or words to that effect;
b) On 10 December 2016, you posted ‘Wow just wow!! Pick up intoxicated adult (orthopaedic Reg) who refuses to be taken to the hospital he works at….so, we offer to take him home as we are nice like that (wink face emoji)! Speak to girlfriend – also medical background, no words of thanks to us but a question of ‘is his airway safe?’! Errr, no dummy we just brought him to die. (Rolling eyes emoji)’ or words to that effect.
8) On 24 October 2017, at Horsham Magistrates Court, you received a conditional discharge in relation to offence ‘Assault by Beating’.
9) Your actions at paragraphs 1, 6(a), 6(b) and/or 6(c) were dishonest.
10) Your actions at paragraph 1 – 9 constitute misconduct and/or lack of competence.
11) By reason of your misconduct and/or lack of competence, your fitness to practise is impaired.
