Preliminary Matters
Application for a Private Hearing

1. Ms Khan made an application for the entirety of this hearing to be conducted in private.

2. Mr Callanan supported the application.

3. The Panel accepted the advice of the Legal Assessor and had regard to the HCPTS Practice Note: Conducting Hearings in Private.

4. The Panel determined that the regulatory concerns raised in this case are inextricably linked to matters relating to the Registrant’s health. In the circumstances, the Panel was satisfied that the Registrant's interests in maintaining her privacy in respect of matters relating to her health justified departing from the general rule that hearings should be held in public. The Panel therefore decided that the entirety of the hearing should be heard in private under Rule 8(1)(a) of the HCPC (Investigating Committee) (Procedure) Rules 2003 (as amended) (“the Rules”).

ORDER: The Registrar is directed to annotate the HCPC Register to show that, for a period of 18 months from the date that this Order takes effect (“the Operative Date”), you, Caren Williams, must comply with the following conditions of practice:

This order will be reviewed by the Investigating Committee no later than 11 January 2023 or earlier if new evidence which is relevant to the Order becomes available after it was made.
