Order

ORDER: The Interim Conditions of Practice Order made on 13 April 2021, and varied on 11 April 2022 is confirmed. The conditions are:

1. You must place yourself and remain under the supervision of a workplace supervisor registered by the HCPC and supply details of your supervisor to the HCPC within 7 days of your appointment as a Biomedical Scientist. You must attend upon that supervisor as required and follow their advice and recommendations. For the avoidance of doubt, whilst this condition does not require direct supervision, you must not work in a laboratory unless another Biomedical Scientist registered with the HCPC is at the same time working in the same laboratory.

2. You must not authorise patient results and/or communicate them to a service user or a requesting clinician unless you are signed off as competent by the laboratory or Trust you are working for.

3. In respect of the records of training towards your competencies in your role as a Biomedical Scientist, these must be signed by your supervisor and you must:

A. provide a copy of these records to the HCPC on a monthly basis, the first report to be provided within 28 days of your appointment;

B. make those records available for inspection at all reasonable times by any person authorised to act on behalf of the HCPC.

4. You must promptly inform the HCPC if you cease to be employed by your current employer or take up any other or further employment or engagement.

5. You must promptly inform the HCPC of any disciplinary proceedings taken against you by your employer. You must inform the following parties that your registration is subject to these conditions:

A. any organisation or person employing or contracting with you to undertake professional work;

B. any agency you are registered with or apply to be registered with (at the time of application); and

C. any prospective employer (at the time of your application).

6. You will be responsible for meeting any and all costs associated with complying with these conditions. Any condition requiring you to provide any information to the HCPC is to be met by you.

Notes

This order will be reviewed by the Committee no later than 17 January 2024 or earlier if new evidence which is relevant to the Order becomes available after it was made.

Right to Apply to the Court

Under Article 31(12) of the Health Professions Order 2001, you may apply to the appropriate court to revoke or vary the conditions imposed.
