Preliminary Matters

1. The Panel has been convened to consider an application made jointly by the HCPC and the Registrant that a sanction which both parties contend is appropriate is imposed. Specifically, the Panel is requested to agree to the making of a Suspension Order for a period of 12 months.

Hearing in private

2. At the commencement of the hearing, the HCPC Presenting Officer applied for a direction that the entire hearing should be conducted in private. This application was made on the basis that the Panel was sitting as the Health Committee and the Allegation in respect of which the agreed sanction was sought to be imposed was one that the Registrant’s fitness to practise is impaired by reason of her health. The Registrant agreed that the direction should be made and the Panel acceded to the application, finding that the direction sought would be necessary to protect the Registrant’s private life.

The Registrar is directed to suspend the registration of Miss Ashley McLeavy for a period of 12 months from the date this Order comes into effect.

This Order will be reviewed before it expires.

Interim Order

After the Panel handed down its written determination above, the HCPC Presenting Officer stated that it was not the HCPC’s intention to apply for an interim order.
