Order
ORDER: The Interim Conditions of Practice Order made on 26 March 2024 is varied. The conditions are:
1. You must only work as a Physiotherapist for a single employer at any one time.
2. You must not work as a Physiotherapist on a self-employed basis.
3. You must not carry out work involving the use of patient equipment for manual handling purposes unless directly supervised by a professional registered by the HCPC or other appropriate statutory regulator.
4. You must place yourself and remain under the indirect supervision of an HCPC - registered Physiotherapist and supply details of your supervisor to the HCPC within 14 days of commencing work as a Physiotherapist. You must attend upon that supervisor every 2 weeks and follow their advice and recommendations in the following areas: clinical assessment, communication, information gathering, clinical reasoning, safe interventions and treatment planning.
5. Such supervision may not be carried out online. Practice must be observed by the supervisor and any report (see condition 6 below) must include the supervisor’s observations on that practice. At a minimum, the supervisor must observe the Registrant with two patients every two weeks.
6. You must send to the HCPC 10 days in advance of any review of this interim order a supervision report prepared by your supervisor with their observations and assessment of your performance including in the following areas, namely clinical assessment, communication, information gathering, clinical reasoning, safe interventions and treatment planning.
7. You must inform the following parties that your registration is subject to these conditions:
a. any organisation or person employing you to undertake Physiotherapy registered professional work;
b. any agency you are registered with or apply to be registered with to undertake physiotherapy registered professional work (at the time of application);
c. any prospective employer for registered professional work (at the time of your application).
8. You must notify the HCPC not less than 7 days in advance of any new employment as a Physiotherapist, giving details of the name of the employer and the nature of that employment.
Notes
This order will be reviewed by the Committee no later than 11 January 2025 or earlier if new evidence which is relevant to the Order becomes available after it was made.
